Popular lyricist Gaddar passes away
India’s famous folk singer Gaddar died on 6 August 2023 due to heart disease. He died in a private hospital where he had undergone heart bypass surgery. After that, a bulletin was issued by the hospital that Gummadi Vitthalrao alias Gaddar, a popular lyricist and former ideologue of the Maoist party, passed away on Sunday afternoon.
Let us tell you that the traitor was 77 years old and his family consists of his wife and his two sons and a daughter. Where his sons are named Surya and Chandra. The traitor was suffering from a serious heart ailment and was soon admitted in the month of July. In the same month i.e. on August 3, 2023, he underwent heart bypass surgery, in which there was a lot of improvement.
However, his chronic illness became the cause of his death. Along with heart, he also had an infection in his lungs and urinary tract and because of this, he breathed his last at Apollo Spectra Hospital in Hyderabad.
Vithal Rao alias Gaddar was born in 1946 in Kamaredi district of Telangana. Born on June 4, 1949, in Golagudem village of Telangana state, Gaddar has become a symbol of resistance and a voice for the marginalized and the oppressed.
For some time in 1975, he also worked in a bank and the name of that bank was Canara Bank. Naxalites had a People’s War Group cultural organization which later turned into Communist Party of India Maoist, he was the founder of his Jan Natya Mandali.
He was also a revolutionary song composer who used to compose his own songs and sing them from the stage. He also inspired youths to join Maoism several times and was instrumental in bringing national focus to the massacre of Dalits at Karma Chetu in 1987.
In 1997, an attempt was also made to kill him in Hyderabad, although his life was saved in this and the policemen were accused. He is said to have had surgery and a bullet still lodged in his reed. Gaddar’s life and art epitomize the spirit of resistance and social change.
Through his folk songs and activism, Gaddar has left an indelible mark on the cultural and political landscape of India.
Following his death, the Chief Minister of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chandrasekhar Rao and Jagan Mohan Reddy respectively, along with other leaders expressed condolences.
